Finding a Balance

Well, I haven’t blogged in a while but it is one of those things that is always on my mind but gets pushed down to the bottom of the ‘to do’ list. It’s not that we aren’t doing things that are worthy of sharing, it really just comes down to finding the time and keeping the work-life balance somewhat even.

I think this is a constant struggle as a teacher, or maybe for any working professional. I’ve been in Munich for a year and a half now but I still feel like I am getting to know the city and the people that populate it. Add to that a change of campus, new colleagues and new friends, I’ve found it necessary to prioritise and unfortunately my site is one of the things that hasn’t been the focus. It is still important to me and I hope to get back into using it as a place to share ideas with other teachers but the first half of the school year is so busy, time spent getting to know the children and their parents has to come first.

I think it is partly to do with my personality too, I honestly can’t blame it all on ‘being busy’. I thrive on new ideas, new opportunities and figuring out how to make things work. I started a gardening club, a digital animation club, helped weekly with the running club and took on a role as a digital leader. All of these things are also important to me so I guess, as we bring in 2017 I will just have to determine how to keep the motivation to share online and begin new projects.

    Dear Mrs. Zorn,
I miss you a lot and I wish you keep updating the blog so I can see what you do in your class this year.
I have a new school and I am happy but miss the class 2Z.
